The Calm before the storm

It's Saturday night, I am always anxious on Saturday nights. Tomorrow is Sunday. Tomorrow is not unlike any other Sunday. I will wake up early and drive to the church. I will arrive between 7:30 and 8:00am. I will read over my lesson that I prepared early last week, the lesson that I will teach to over 100 kids at 10:30am. At about 8:20 my volunteers begin to show up, we must set-up the gym for the service. This entails, arranging chairs, setting up a 70ft indoor inflatable, 2 video games systems, 2 air hockey tables, a foos-ball table, cup stacks, connect 4, not to mention any props that I will use in my lesson, the sound system, check in system and prizes that will be given away. We must have the gym completely set-up before 9:00am.

At 9:00am I will be off to teach my last week of a 6 week series in the young marrieds Sunday School class. I have been taking a group of 25 adults through a 6 weeks series titled, "Finding your Ministry Sweet Spot." The goal of the class is to not only encourage people to get involved in ministry, but to get involved in the right ministry. The ministry that best compliments how God created them. The ministry that best fits their SPIRITUAL GIFTS, HEART, PASSIONS, EXPERIENCES, ABILITIES, otherwise known as SHAPE. I have really enjoyed getting to teach this class.

As soon as the Sunday school class ends, I head back to the kids gym. Only this time the room is a buzz with energetic music and lights. Kids from Kindergarten through 6th grade are entering the room. They are getting to interact with their freinds that they have not seen for a week, as well as participate in all the activities that my volunteers set-up that morning before 9:00am. In Kids church we are working through a series titled, "Family Mechanic's." This morning we will be discussing OBEDIENCE. I will talk about how important it is for kids to OBEY, HONOR and LOVE their parents. At the end of the service, I intend to call the kids to a point of decision, will they concisly make a choice this week to take what they have learned and put it into practice?

I can't wait to see what God does.

Here is a picture of my son and I at my brothers wedding. It was a great time. I was the best man and my son was the ring bear.

Nope that's not a misprint. My son who is 3 kept asking where his bear costume was. He expected to wear a bear costume and carry the rings. Get it "Ring Bear"
